According to the DM, ice cream vans are dying out due to double glazing making it difficult to gear them.
They must be joking. The ones around here are SO loud, and can be heard from several blocks away. Besides, they come at set times and the kids certainly know when that is...every day.

Complete Rowlocks as far as I am concerned....these ruddy pests are around 3-4 times a day at this time of year. The kids seem to have difficulty whatsoever in hearing them, and neither does Mikey !
I always hear mine from several blocks away. Ours plays Greensleeves.
Haven't had one around here for many years.
Hear mine OK - ♫ Colonel Bogey March ♫ this week.
I never hear them but the grandkids do...............from a mile away it seems.
I hear them, never see the boogers
Ours stopped coming when I took to going out and selling my own at half the price of his every time he pulled up. Sorted.
One comes around regularly down our street. Often contemplate getting a 99 or something, but never do. Never see them do any business either. Parents more keen on keeping supermarket ice cream in the freezer. (Not the same though.)
About 90 mins ago, made me jump. I didn't notice what the tune was. I haven't had a whippy ice-cream for ages. Meh.
They're loud enough here too. 1.50 or something here for a 99. OG, go on, treat yourself! ;0)
Gosh, Ice Cream wars at Togo's house eh?

Have you got a traders licence?
Actually, OG has a point. After seeing your post pasta, I've just taken a Magnum out of the freezer!
When the ice cream van plays a tune, it means he has no ice cream left . :-(
I love the sound of them.

We don't get many round this way as there are some permanent ones situated at the park down the road.

The ice cream man that does come is the same one as when we were kids.
Our one is very loud too. He has had a bumper year again as its been another long hot summer.
My dog howls when he hears the ice cream van, no idea why as I've not bought one for years. Anyways, like everyone else, the music is so loud there ain't nothin shuttin it out.
Can certainly hear the ice cream vans around my way, especially the one that plays Popeye the sailor man at full belt.
ours is Popeye too ! although I suspect more than ice cream is being sold in the depths of winter !
Poor Mamy... leave no turn unstoned. :)
Where do you live georgiesmum? Certainly nowhere near me :-)
