Dead Patches In A Lawn

I put a weed and feed dressing on my lawn a few weeks ago and it has left me with big patches of dead grass all over the lawn. So I have raked out as much of the dead stuff (grass and moss) as I can, and have bought some Patch Magic to repair the patches. But how do I mow the rest of the lawn (the grass is growing fast at the moment) with these patches of new grass growing. I thought you weren't supposed to mow new grass until it gets strong. Thanks for any help.

Would it be possible to mow around the dead patches until they recover and become established.
I the meantime I'd keep the repaired areas well watered.
could you use a strimmer on the long grass ?
Lots of reasons for dead patches Winston. From dogs to the actual lawn feed. Chafer grubs are a devil too. Probably the hardest part is actually identifying the reason. Good luck. The Links may help.
