Is there/was there a national charity that would take your furniture away. I'm talking bulky items like three piece suites, living room units and such?
I don't have any, it's just that we were discussing whether there was/is such a body and not just charity shops.

The Sofa Project is national but then all of the major national charities do house clearances.
The British Heart Foundation has dedicated 'Furniture & Electrical Shops' and collects saleable items of furniture from across Great Britain:

Thanks but none of these ring a bell. I believe it was a national charity and something to do with the homeless who had been re-housed.....or something.
The salvation army have a furniture project that sounds like what you're looking for. Try their website.
