When I Cut Onions It Makes Me Cry Please Suggest How To Avoid Tears?

We know that onions posses some chemical/gases. When we cut the onion it frees the gas and in return it leads to burning eyes and tears. My mother suggests me to cut the onions and leave it for sometime, but I need suggestions where I don't have to wait longer and cut the onions without tears.

Use a sharp knife, cut them with them under water.
Cut them at arms length. It's what I do.
Put on a pair of goggles.
You could use a plastic eye mask if you have lots of onions to cut.
Buy pre chopped onions :)

Chill the onions in the freezer for no more than 10 to 15 minutes before cutting them. This reduces the amount of the acid enzyme released into the air and has zero effect on taste.

Use a sharp knife to cut them and watch you don't cut your fingers. A really sharp knife prevents crushing and releasing more enzymes to irritate your eyes.
