What Is A Pipe Centre On A Shower? How To Replace Hose Outlet Connector?

Apologies if this has been asked before but using the search function just keeps throwing up an error message.

I have a Triton Aquasensation low pressure mixer shower. It broke before I bought the house so has never had water connected. I managed to track down the correct cartridge and replace it. Now I have water, I see the little elbow outlet connector holding the hose into the wall is cracked and leaking.

Triton tell me that they no longer make them in that type. Apparently it has 153m pipe centres and all new parts are 150m so I'd have to have my pipes shortened.

I have no idea what this means. Is shortening my pipes a big deal (ooh-err lol)?! Is this a part I might be able to buy a generic version of? Is there a quick fix bodge job I can do on the shower hose until I have the money to replace the whole bathroom? Or have I just wasted £100 on a cartridge for a shower I can never use again?!

Please and thank you!

Pipe centre distance is literally the measurement between the centres of two pipes, so the new ones are 3mm closer together. Not sure how that would relate to having your supply pipes shortened. As to a 'bodge', marine putty (think that's what it's called) can seal most leaks, might make it impossible to dismantle the joint later though.

Excuse my stupidity but don't the pipes go into the cartridge thing? Doesn't the hose connect to a single pipe? I'm rather confused! The broken bit looks a bit like this one: https://m.showerspares.com/search/triton-inner-elbow-for-bulkhead-85500160/
But it doesn't say any measurements so I have no idea if it's the same or not!
Sorry can't help there I'm afraid, I can't visualise what the shower looks like or what the 'cartridge' might be :-(

It's a concealed mixer. So I have two holes in my tiles. One where the mixer itself and the cartridge goes in, which is connected to hot and cold pipes inside the wall, and another hole where I attach the hose to a single pipe. The part I posted is the connector for the hose that has broken. So if pipe centre is the distance between two pipes I'm not sure how this relates to my broken part, which attaches to a single pipe?
I might have guessed that they were referring to the internal pipe diameter, but 153m is one heck of a big pipe. Have you been to a plumbing supply shop to see if there is something that'd fit ?
There are products you can use to block leaks. If a else fails and you intend replacing the bathroom at some stage, that may be the way to go and get your £100's worth out of it.
Exactly as Fitzer says, pipe centres have always meant this. It avoids confusion as to whether the measurement is taken from outside edge or inside edge. It means precisely that centre to centre on two pipes.
That sounds reasonable except how would it affect connection to one pipe only ? Why would the location of a second pipe be important ?
OG, Like you I cannot tell what the problem is without more information. The OP states pipe centres which is between two pipes, a measurement given as pipe centre would imply from something to a pipe centre. The only thing I can think is there are two fixed points which are not easily altered. Looking at the photo of the elbow being plastic I wonder if someone forced a "fit" before and that this is what has caused the leak. The way I read the postings does not make sense I would require a lot more information.
I think there's some confusion here, bush baby.
The pipe centres are nothing to do with your problem. If I've got this right, you are talking about the outlet that connects to the shower hose and spray head.

If so, then this is a (usually) standard item. Triton are very helpful. Call them again and explain. They should have something that will fit.

They usually have exploded parts diagrams that will show you what you need. If not Triton, then try an online shower spares site. They should sort you out.

I'm also starting to think the lady at Triton got the wrong end of the stick as to what I wanted. It's the shower hose outlet connectors elbow and shroud/bulkhead apparently. I've found it on the exploded drawings but it is obsolete with no recommended replacement part number so I am trying to figure out what my alternatives are. The Triton lady could/would only tell me about Triton products and was adamant none would fit. I'm grateful to you all on trying to help me - being given dud info by Triton hasn't helped!
