My friends son has bad asthma and she was thinking of getting one of these.

They are very expensive which she is happy to pay if it works.

I have read some differing reviews so looking for anyone who actually has one or used one for your opinions.

Many thanks

No, I don't have personal experience of this item....basically a fan with a "special" filter. However, my thoughts are this...even if this was brilliant at removing all allergens, it would only be effective in a small, finite volume of air eg the son's bedroom and he would need to stay in there for any beneficial effect. As soon as he left the bedroom, he would be exposed to the allergens again (and are we assuming that the allergens involved are actually triggering an asthma attack?).
There's my opinion...I'd be interested to hear other Aber's reasoned thoughts, though.
Hi, tell her not to waste her money on a Dyson one... I'm not saying they don't do the job but this will work just as well and they do work.
I keep parrots as do a lot of my friends... this really does make a difference to the air quality.

Sorry the link is to a parrot site lol... you would be able to source it elsewhere I would imagine.

Oh thanks, yes she was wondering if there was a slightly cheaper one that would be just as good, I will pass that on.

Divegirl, what is the noise level like? She's planning on putting it in his bedroom.
I have one of these, a far cheaper one [only two parrots though lol] and you can hear it running it's not too bad though but friends with the one I posted earlier say it runs almost silently.

My sister has this one for her son's bedroom - he has severe asthma and has a dreadful night cough despite having non allergy bed and bedding, wood floor and blinds. It has helped a great deal and she has bought the larger version for downstairs.
