hi guys, so my gardener started to move out some concrete and earth into a skip, and level out the garden. a couple of hours in, he said that there was loads of asbestos buried in the garden, which was initially in quite an isolated place, but because he was moving it everywhere, he spread it all over most my garden. I got really upset when he told me, and i told him to stop until i speck to a professional about what to do. His partner then looked into it on the hsa website and said that we are allowed to carry on, but we need to wear the protective gear, bag up any asbestos we find (ready to have it safely taken away) and inform the authorities. after spending nearly 5 hours going though the soil i have one and a half buckets of the stuff, but i've just been on the hsa website and i can't see anything about what to do if you find asbestos in your garden. I know 100% that you are allowed to take down asbestos tin roofs (which is what this is) and then have it collected, but i don't know what the process is for if you find some buried. I'm really worried that i shouldn't of gone though the soil trying to find pieces. I had a problem with the same guy that is doing my garden, as he tried to dump my asbestos garage roof, and when i found out i wiped the floor with him. He did say he was really sorry but i think he may have planted the asbestos there to try and get back at me... oh i don't know what to do now. any informed advice would be great

Not sure I understand what an Asbestos Tin Roof is?
-- answer removed --
Is this asbestos cement? Asbestos cement is only 13% asbestos , the rest is cement. It can be put into a bag and taken to your nearest disposal site.
If it is Asbestos insulation you need to call a specialist disposal team.

Baldric....I think my garage has an asbestos tin roof.......
Baldric I assume it is the corrugated roofing material. I was quality control engineer for the company that made it for 4 years.
As I just said , that is only 13% asbestos and you can just bag it and take to a disposal site. It may not even be asbestos at all as Rayon fiber has been used instead of Asbestos for the last 25 years.

One and a half buckets of tin roof could go in a black sack and taken to landfill.

No such thing baths, but tandh has explained it now, it's Asbestos Cement.
Maydup You CAN'T put it in ordinary black bags, this is what you have to use
