Free-Standing Heater?

My latest halogen heater has blown all but one of its tubes after just one month of normal use. Having gone through at least three of these things in as many years, I need recommendations for a free-standing (& portable) heater, which doesn't make any noise (so no hot air blowers).

Any suggestions?

I've not got central heating, so I've always relied upon various forms of electric heaters. Like Gingejbee, I've come to the conclusion that oil-filled radiators are the best for me. (I believe that the newer 'oil free' versions are meant to be even better but they're also ruddy expensive). After many year's service, my cheapy from Aldi (or was it Lidl?)...

I'm a fan of oil-filled radiators...bit heavy, but move around on wheels.
I'm with gingejbee and I don't like those halogen heaters either, they give me a headache. I have 2 of the oil filled heaters, they're great, I only put them on for a short while, they have a thermostat and are excellent when pottering around in the morning before anyone gets up and the main heating comes on. I have the 2 heaters over 7 years
Yes, oil filled radiator.I have one as a stand by if the gas heating fails.

After many year's service, my cheapy from Aldi (or was it Lidl?) packed up earlier this winter and I invested in the second one down on this page, from Machine Mart (who've got stores in most parts of the country):

It's an excellent product and I can thoroughly recommend it (unless, of course, real portability is important to you - I certainly wouldn't want to lug it up and down stairs!)
not the question you asked, but you ought to be asking for your money back on this one; it's not fit for purpose. Things should last longer than a month.
why people dont return items to the store when they all by law have at least one years warranty beats me.keep all your receipts (not counting food) and use your consumer powers !

Thanks all for your suggestions, yes I agree I will go back to Argos and demand a refund - and never buy one of those damn things again!

Well, the last tube blew this morning! Went back to Argos and swapped it for a Dimplex radiator on wheels. Thanks again, folks.
