To Dyson Or Not To Dyson?

I'm losing patience with my current useless and heavy vacuum cleaner. I know Dysons are quite expensive, has anyone regretted buying one?

BTW, I call Mrs Spod 'Nature' because she abhors a vacuum; not very keen on dusters either. (Not true).
Thanks,

Yes I regretted buying my Dyson and sold it on gumtree within a year. May have been the model (a cylinder allergy one) but it weighed a ton, didn't pick up well on carpet, went together in loads of bits like a Meccano contraption and was really noisy. I replaced it with a Miele cat and dog which I can't fault.
I regretted the upright one but my cousin has a Dyson Ball things and that's nice and light.
Ive had several dysons. Current one is a DC39 Animal (ie it has a brush) The ball not the upright. Built like a rocket launcher but boy does it suck. Yes indeed. I am always amazed by the amount of dust it picks up. Quite heavy to lug around and not easy to take apart for cleaning/storage. Things like matchsticks and cotton wool buds are a pain to get out if you are unlucky enough to suck one up. Answer is be careful what you suck up. I would recommend it if you can overcome the drawbacks. I think weight is something you have to put up with if you want a robust machine that works. Wait for deals to come around. I never pay the RRP, sometimes hundreds less. I was thinking of getting a rechargable hand held one to complement it. Having said that you are quite within your rights to go to a store and try out any machine you like. You dont have to buy. Say you will go away and have a think.
I threw mine out. Useless. I have a Henry now which works very well.
We have a Dyson dc04 and it is very impressive on cleaning 'flat carpets'. However, the attachments/pipe arrangement is useless so we have had to buy something smaller to deal with the stair-carpets or any vertical surfaces or under heavy, immovable furniture.
I found mine was ok at picking up what I couldn't see - minute dust particles - but hopeless at picking up a little piece of paper, for example.
I have got a Dyson. When my previous Dyson died after long and sterling service, i bought a Morphy Richards....waste of money so I went back to Dyson. Cons are its heavy and costs an arm and a leg, pro is it works.
Just changed from a dyson to a vax Air. Much lighter than the Dyson and just as powerful if not more so.
Another plus point was the cord reached from the top to Bottom of the stairs. My Hetty only reaches 3/4 up.
But Hetty looks really cute so I'll forgive her :-)
Cord on VAX is about 2m longer than Dyson.
Dyson V6 cordless is a gem. The only drawback is only 20 mins without re-charge. But very versatile. Light as a feather. We also got one for the mother of 'She who must be obeyed', who is 86. She loves it too.
I meant the hose. The hose on the upright Dyson reached from top to bottom of the stairs.
We have a DC24, I think, works fine but I hate that the tube does not lock in a halfway position, it's either full length or short.
Only tried Dyson once, never again. Overpriced and overrated.
I highly recommend a Miele Cat & Dog.
I liked mine at first, but now it gets clogged up with my hair almost every time I use it, even though it's meant for homes with pets.
Zacs-master - which model of the vax air did you buy? Just had a look as I need to upgrade my ancient cleaner but there are so many models. Thanks in advance.
//has anyone regretted buying one?//

yes. 2 days after the warranty ran out we got it out to use it and it sat there emitting lots of noise and smoke. never again.
Say 'No' to Dyson!

Heavy, unwieldy and carp.

Henry or Miehle as previously mentioned is the way to go.
