Shower Waste To Soil Pipe

I'm in the process of upgrading the downstairs shower. Some thirty years ago, the builder that installed it didn't ensure an angled fall to the soil pipe - this exits the wall and enters the soil pipe on the level.
The existing shower tray stands on 2-deep courses of brickwork, on a concrete floor.
I could raise the floor of the new shower tray - but would this look weird and would I need stepladder to get into it....
Curious to know if anyone's encountered similar bodgework and how you got round it.

Cut soil pipe well above the 110 toilet entry, dismantle all from this point. substitute the bottom section of 110 for a fitting with bosses on, ( you can get long spigots) reconnect soil stack at cut made earlier and reconnect with a 110 slip coupling. Make new 42 shower waste pipe into 1 of the new bosses. A bit of pull and shove but can be done

Can't you re- route the waste?
While you have the opportunity with the old base out ... cut a new route for the waste and give it more fall by lowering the point where it enters the soil pipe.

The problem is, it's already entering the soil pipe at 90 degrees .... there isn't a lower access point on the branch. Unless I pop one through with a corkscrew :)
I'm actually considering taking the waste slightly further along and into the kitchen grid, which would provide a drop of about 45 degrees although over a longer distance.
Needless to say, builderman also placed the waste in the furthest corner of the shower.....
You need to get the Kango out.
You can get a strap on boss for the stack. You need to drill a hole about 40mm in the stack.

I'm hesitant to do that below the lowest existing branches on the access. I don't see 40mm clearance plus what's needed for the boss, and the area isn't one level cylinder at that point as it is slotted into the rest of the soil pipe going into the manhole.
Cant you fit a new section .. http://tinyurl.com/pexe8qa .. I'm sure there is a combination that will solve your problem.
Could you take the new waste directly into the manhole?
New pipework on the outside, then you could lower the shower tray too.
If not already fitted would a shallow trap help.
Question Author
Not into the manhole - big concrete lined thing and I know my limits.
Alava, I've been perusing those products....I think I need to replace the existing access branch with something that includes a waste manifold. The whole thing just seems set oddly high up ie not flush with the ground. Shall get out my trowel and have a fossick.

Ha! Crossed over with Talbot, great minds thinking alike.....Malagabob, already had a shallow waste fitted, but continuous problems with slow drainage due to lack of fall in pipe length.
Question Author
A snap of the problem - should have done this in the first place. the shower waste is entering on the left of the pic.
Question Author
I think a strap on boss will fit below to the right.
Question Author
Worth a try! Thanks
Why on earth does it jump out from the wall like that?
I would change those fittings.

I agree Talbot, it's a handsome piece of bodgery. But I think I'll risk five quid on a strap on boss first.
Ideally I'd like to replace the lot with black pipe and a neat manifold, but TBH if the boss works I can live with it.
An alternative, Moses, is to dismantle that part of the stack. Take hold of the branch (the fitting with the 100mm rear soil entry and the two bosses), and cut a couple of inches off the spigot end.

The whole fitting will then sit 2 inches lower. No need for an extra boss then. I've done that many times in such situation.
