I bought a professional electric knife sharpener at a car boot sale which new is worth over £200. I only have knives which are not really expensive but tried it out and it certainly works a treat thing is is it worth me keeping it or would a cheaper one do for my knives and then I could sell the other one?

You do not say what you paid for it.

I'd be of the mind that if you like it and it works well why not own a quality item once in a while ? Not desperate for the money are you ?
You can't really know if "a cheaper one would do" until you've bought one, and, if it doesn't "do", what will you do with it? You'll then have a cheaper one, that doesn't "do", and you might have got rid of your good one. So, you'll be stuck with a duff sharpener. Better stick with the status quo, I suppose.
If you bought it at a car boot sale, you probably picked it up for a bargain, so a no brainer imo........hang on to it, enjoy using it and never struggle with cutting your food up with an inferior one.
I use an old steel that belonged to my parents for sharpening my knives, it still sharpens them so that they could cut paper. My grandma used to sharpen all her knives on the stone wall tops in her garden.

£200, does it come with a man who's a knife grinder?
Just out of interest what make is this knife sharpener?
Most professionals would avoid an electric knife sharpener...it's probably meant for the catering industry where lots of knives need attention every day. Electric ones aren't that good for your knives.
