We have a tree that looks as though it has small"cones"on it similar to an Alder but I don't think it is an Alder. Any ideas?

Perhaps (rather than being a Common Alder) it's a Grey Alder?

Hi Missesbell,
Like Buenchico, I too though it could be a different species of alder, other than the native common one. My first thoughts were Italian alder.

What do the leaves look like ?
