was thinking of buying a static to live in more than anything else, i am looking for an all year round site in uk possibly south or east coast ( anyone got a link )

what are the pitfalls of buying a static / mobile home , damp etc ?

i am going to have to go to uk for work in london and south coast areas so a caravan is going to work out cheaper than for me to stay here in my apartment costing £5,500 per year.

advice needed thanks

Annual site fees range a lot in size but could easily be £3,000+ onn a popular site. Most sites compel you to buy from them, and sell to them when you want to move on. They get the financial advantage both ways. Some sites have a maximum age limit on the caravans on their site so after, say, 10 years you will have to trade in your "worthless" caravan for a new one at their prices. Check the small print, then check the smaller print. Buyer beware.
There is still gas, electric and council tax to pay.
Like Graham said.
'Park Homes' might be another more affordable option, again with many strings attached.

thanks graham, also the upkeeping would be a problem i imagine ?

damp etc
No matter which way you go DD, you will not be in pocket with On Site Static Vans, be warned.
Surely the option to rent out during popular months is a bonus
See if you can rent a Static DD.
that would soon out-way the cost of buying one, TW
Not for 1 year as needed by DD.
Where does it say that?
Hi,DD, my static has a ground rent of £4780 inclusive of council tax, water and vat.On top of that is say £400p.a. Insurance. gas& electric I budget for £600 ,on 16 weeks use, mainly for heating in the UK climate. (site is closed 6 weeks per year,ie non-residential)
Ah, All year around site, thought he said an year renting.
yes, TWR, my post was a guide, all year sites charge even higher fees. Rental would be a no-no as in high season van rents can be £500 a week on popular sites down to £200,' off season'
Just checked our local park home prices... close to the coast in West Sussex. They seem to charge £950 plus pw in July/Aug.
Funnily enough I was talking to someone earlier today who is selling his 2 bed park home, it's nothing special, but still £150.000.

You will struggle to buy a decent beach hut here for under £15,000
