My OH uses an oil stone to do all our knives and garden equipment. Works well

here's a link http://www.amazon.co.uk/York-Bonsai-LO1-Sharpening-Stone/dp/B008N02EXU
Multi sharp is a great knife sharpener.will provide a link shortly.cost £15.there is a short presentation video on the link as to its
Many uses.
retro's cutting wit should do it - any good oil-stone should do it, along with knowing how to sharpen the beasts - just get some instruction from your local butcher or fishmonger....

Thank you for your glowing endorsement of me .I will cut to the quick.I made a mistake daginge so excise the brand name "multi sharp" I mentioned earlier.
Accusharp is what I should have recommended as the other brand is a cheaper copy with inferior cutting stones. There should be a video with this link.
Will get it right eventually. ANYSHARP
I've been using a sharpening steel for years for knives, and it's quite efficient in giving a good edge to most knives. It depends upon how often you use a particular knife; but, in general, a few strokes once a week on both sides will suffice.
I use a sharpening steel too.
And think about how many TV chefs use anything other than a sharpening steel.
Oil and stone for me, with an occasional wipe with a sharpening steel.
ummm
Quite true but I doubt many are arthritic yet and are still capable of handling a steel. That was why I researched the Anysharp for my late mother which needs no pressure and only one hand to use.
I didn't think of that, Retrocop :-)
