You could try either a power washer or a strong solution of soda crystals and a stiff brush, followed by a hose down.

bleach and hose down? Works here. Plus I think there's proprietary stuff you could try, but I don't know how well it works

Power washer!

Have a power washer but doesn't get it all, will try bleach, then soda if that doesn't work.Used some proprietory stuff but wasn't very effective. Thanks for replies
I have heard people use washing powder before now, not sure which kind, but I'm assuming it would be biological rather than non bio
Buy a simple sand-blasting attachment for your pressure washer, Mags. That'll shift anything.
I use a Karcher pressure washer. If its an ongoing problem, for about£200 you will have it solved, mine came with a concrete scrubbing device that fits to the end of the lance, I haven't had the need to use that yet as the water pressure lifts off the green yuk easily in a few seconds.
We've got a Karcher power washer and our patio has a small run-off that often gets green with the water running off it. The power washer has never fully shifted it - tried bleach and all kinds of other detergents.
Anyway, when we had our drive done, the firm recommended a product called "Dairy Hypochlorite".
I now use this to clean all of the patio (no need to get the power washer out anymore), I was that impressed with it, I even showed my neighbour. She commented how it looks like new ... and she wants me to get her some, the next time I get some :)
I always use bleach, nothing fancy, just plain old bleach and then a stiff brush and then a hose down. Voila... all twinkly and clean... until it all comes back again of course, especially after all the rain we've had over the past few months.
Fao Gizmonster, what dilution do you use as that's very strong stuff and does it lighten, permanently, the patio?
To be honest, I can't remember the dilution that I used.
It's actually used in the cleaning of the lines, etc in the dairy industry .... as the name suggests :)
I rang the firm up, that supplied it and asked them if it was okay to use it to clean the patio. I was told yea and was also told what dilution to use .... I've forgotten what they said, so when I need to use it again, I'm gonna have to ring them again. This time I'll make a note of the dilution on the container itself :)
Plain old fairy liquid solution worked for me,and path had got very slippy.
We use hypochlorite bought from farm supply shop, works a treat!
