I'm thinking of having the radiator in the bedroom taken out and put in the bathroom as the one in the bathroom needs replacing then having a bigger radiator put in the bedroom as the one already there is too small for the room. How much, roughly would a job like this cost, and is there a time of year when it might be cheaper. Thank you.

Connections in the bathroom will have to be altered to take a bigger rad.

Same in the bedroom unless you have a single rad, and can just change to a double with the same width and connections.

May need to go under the floor to alter pipework.

Drain down and re-fill system.

With no complications, maybe 4 hours work. Around £150 plus the cost of new rad and fittings.

Every job is different. Some quesswork involved here :o)

might get a better deal/cost in the summer, trying to get a plumber/heating engineer this time of year can be a nightmare...you may be lucky but most are tied up with boiler/system breakdowns especially with the 1st frosts etc.
Having said that a competent DIY/handman should be able to cope with a job like this.

Thanks for your replies. The Builder, the rad that would be coming out of the bedroom and into the bathroom is the same size, so thought it would be just a question of taking old one out and putting the other one in, then having a bigger one put in the bedroom. So could I have one that has the same dimensions but is a double instead of a single, presume that will give out more heat?
chas2008 I was wondering if it might be better to wait until summer but then I would have to go through another winter of feeling cold in the bedroom.
I will phone up the guy who put the system in to get a quote. Just wanted a rough idea really which is what The Builder has given me.
