My son's just made a wonderful 3ď origami creation but it keeps falling apart . There are far too many little bits to glue it now (oh the beauty of hindsight). Really need some advice please

I thought all origami was 3D ?

I don't believe one is not supposed to glue origami, surely the art form is in the folding ? If it is falling apart it probably needs replacing with a newly folded version.
Glue and Origami, that doesn't sound right.

i googled it, the creation he's made is with lots of little triangular pieces slotted together and a lot of people said they need gluing, but now he's got hundreds of pieces it would be totally impractical to undo them and glue. This isnt the creation he's made, but its similar using the triangles

Ah kirigami. I can't see your link from the work PC, says it's a parked domain !

Can only think of spraying it with something. Varnish maybe. To gum it all together.
Never seen those before, I always thought Origami was paper folding, they do look like they require glue of some description.
