Can't Find Radiator Valve

Hi,
I'm having real trouble with my son's radiator so thought I seek help here. It's always warm ish at the bottom and cold at the top.

I've bled all radiators except this as I can't open the valve. The only part on it that looks like a valve is shown in the pics attached. All other rads are really easy with standard valves.

This was first rad in the circuit until we got a loft conversion and now I'm guessing the top one is. Either way, can anyone help me out of this sorry state of affairs so I can bleed the rad and return to my wife as the manly master of DIY in our household again?

Can't see the pics :)

Can't even see a link to the pics!
One can not attach pictures (admin excepted maybe) but one can upload them to a host site and post the link to them here.
Totally off subject here but; Baldric do you keep changing your avatar? they seem like the same pooches but different pictures.
I've never been sat on the edge of my seat in anticipation waiting to see a picture of somebody elses radiator before. I really must be sad.

Yes, same dogs, depends who's in favour at the time!

;-)
You can have one of ours. We call him Victor Meldrew because he is extremely stubborn and annoying.
FunkyMatt if you're having trouble finding a site to upload them to you can email them to me at [email protected] and I will stick them on my site. I used to use imageshack but they have made it really annoying to upload stuff now.
if it is like my old rads it might be on the top of it at the back, quite flat and a fiddle to get at with the key
I am still trying to picture the radiator concerned.

Al.
It might be one of those square looking RADS with a rear valve like DJHawkes suggested. This problem always occurs this time of year when everyone starts testing their central heating system ready for winter.

Ah, so sorry for that oversight. Thanks for such quick responses and glad dizmouk2009 that you wait in anticipation.

On Old_Geezer's suggestion I've uploaded to a hosting site and the link is below. Hopefully that works well.

I'm a self taught plumber and have installed many radiators but I'm going to have to lay down my spanner, blow torch and soldier and admit defeat. I've never seen a RAD like it. Over to someone else..
New one on me too Matt. Funny looking thing. You may need a universal key, something like this...........

Take the pic along to a proper Plumbers' Merchants (not an ordinary Builders' Merchants), such as Plumbcentre. Someone there will know.

Thanks The Builder and dizmouk2009. Thanks firstly becuase you guys being stumped by this makes me feel a little less silly for not understanding it. And secondly for the good advice on using that tool and taking the photo down to a plumber merchant.

I will do just that.

Much appreciated.
My bathroom radiator is similar to the picture and the dot in the centre is a square metal plug sticking out and needs a key with a suitably sized square shaped socket. On mine. a standard radiator key fits.
Hope this helps.
I bleed mine with a knife.
Using the Builder's given web site above, my key is just like the first one shown -like a large key for a grandfather clock.
P.S. Use the Builder's web site and search for "Radiator Key"
Looks to me like someone has broken the top off the brass bleeding valve. If you can isolate the radiator you should be able to unscrew the large nut and replace it with a new one compete with a new brass bleeding nipple.
Sounds quite rude when I read it back ;-)
