We have a BEKO washing machine & the drawer into which you put the powder & fabric softener is DISGUSTING!
It frequently clogs up and the fabric softener doesn't get into the wash, but stays in the drawer & recently there is a black, mould (?) in the drawer also. We frequently remove the drawer & clean it, but surely this can't be right- never had this before.. any ideas on whats occurring?

Have you tried a different kind of softener? I was using one which wouldn't leave the drawer compartment too, it was the pink Comfort which seemed quite thick. I found putting some water in with it to dilute it helped. I use a different kind now so no more probs there. Also, no matter how much you clean it I think mould does tend to grow easily in washing machines
It could be the waste pipe is clogged up full of sludge (mix of softener and powder gunk)
Putting powder into a wet drawer could cause the powder to clog. Could you try leaving the drawer open to dry out between washes to see if that helps?
It's possible that the small holes which supply water through the drawer are partially blocked, remove the drawer and clean out the holes at the back, a flexy cable tie or something similar will do the job ok,then do a test wash and check whether all the soap has been used.
