I would like to plant some kind of shrub in the middle of my south facing front garden. I would prefer an evergreen with showy flowers in the summer months. Any ideas anyone.

Thanks everyone. Love the red camellia. In answer to boxtops my soil isn't very good. It's poor quality ex riverbed.
Try one of the Phormium cultivars, a Fatsia japonica or one of the hardy palms to give you nice, all year round shape
