And are they very heavy compared to a normal electric model?

Yes they are a lot better, my petrol mower makes short work of the lawn.

Thanks loosehead, but I really meant cordless electric mowers!
Didn't realise such a beast existed!
I've used one for about three years for trimming and areas that I can't reach with the tractor.  It performs very well, is quiet and charges back to full in about 4 to 6 hours.  However, it probably wouldn't be a good mower if you had an extensive lawn, say anything above 1/2 acre.  Additionally, I'm not aware of any that are self-propelled...
I love my petrol mower, so much better and safer without a cable to worry about, and no heavier than an electric one.
Ummm, fibifooz, this has no cable... it's cordless.... No filling the tank and no noxious fumes... plug it in when the cutting is complete to recharge...
Sorry.  Haven't seen one of those, but it sounds good.
