How much longer should I leave my beetroot in the ground in the hope of bulbs developing? I put my seed in the soil, end of March this year. I am still waiting for the beetroot tuber/bulb, to develop. I have plenty of healthy leaf some of which are starting to bolt (run to seed ). If it's not going to happen, any suggestions why? Where have I gone wrong?

We have grown beetroot, this year we have a lot of leaf but the beetroots are small even though they are not baby beets. We have looked online and we believe they have had too much water which will cause a lot of leaf but not very good underneath. We have taken them up, cooked them and now pickled. Last year we had a good yield with the same brand.

Trixie2, if you did plant beets they should have grown a long time ago. Perhaps you planted Swiss chard by mistake.
My beetroot is very small compared to what it has been in previous years. I am using the biggest and just getting rid of the rest in a short while.
A's an experiment we grew ours in raised beds this year. In hindsight this was a good choice in view of the amount of rain we have had. Most of them have been lifted when cricket ball size.
No complaints as we have enough bit of a glut of both beet and golden beet.
