I had free Smart Meters fitted this week with British Gas. I think they are brilliant. My gas and electricity meters wont have to be read anymore. its done automatically. What do other people think of them?

I find myself staring at the little readout thingy when it is on green, thinking "oh god, whats not working, has the freezer broken?" but maybe thats just me.

I think this sounds great, just as long as they do not get mixed up with someone else's in the place where they are actually read, or the computer does not go mad and charge you for the street lighting.
Seems like a good idea so far but do we still get Nectar Points for submitting readings? :)
I'm not sure, at the moment I get a discount for submitting my readings online.
I like the man coming round to read mine. After all, it is one less job isn't it, and there are few of them about as it is. Why make yet another man redundant?

We havent had a gas man come to read our meters for ages. We had to do it ourselves.

They cant get muddled up with anyone elses meters as they are still in my garage. despite them being indoors they said they can be read anywhere in the world.
I think its very clever.
