Brit Gas Meter Top-Up Card

Hi, I've just had a gas meter installed (much to my dismay), and the engineer said to make sure the card is inserted BEFORE topping up. Was wondering though, is this just initially as it was a new card, or does it have to be done EVERY time before topping up also? Thanks all xxx

First time only. It 'primes' the card.

Just the first time. It's just to register the card at their end. After that, just top up.

Oh great thanks guys - I was really hoping I didnt have to do it everytime - but didnt want to risk not putting it in first in case I got it topped up and then it not register !
