Any tips on the removal of icky build up in washing machine seal? I dry it regularly, don't leave wet washing in it and leave the door open whenever possible but the mouldy looking stuff is still there in the crease.

How do I remove it without damaging the seal?

triggs licks it

i just use a cloth
Wipe it with thick loo bleach, put a squirt in the dispenser drawer and run the hottest longest wash you can. Repeat every so often.
I use a damp tea towel.
You get 'ick' on the seal ?!?
@OG - I wonder if it's related to the Seal Crush that JJ was rambling on about yesterday?
i wipe inside (in the groove bit)of the door seal till its dry and around the door glass
never had a prob and of course leave the door open overnight and take care about the dispenser draw too watch out for mould under that
Always wipe out the seal (and in folds) and leave door ajar.
If it's black-stained already .. it's there for good, I promise you.
Only way then is a new seal.

Try a clean with a bleach wet cloth.
I'm slightly worried- ive had my washer for over 5 years now, and ive never had a build of stuff? Icky or otherwise, should I have by now?

Do you mean the door rubber seal?
I think mine is caused by the fact that my oh keeps closing the washer door, it doesn't matter how many times I tell/ask him not to.
I used to leave it wide open when not in use, now i have to push it too, due to a small furry hell spawn (otherwise known as a kitten) likes to climb in it.
once a month I put a small amount of thcik bleach and some washing detergent in the dispenser drawer, and put on a quick 50 degree wash, keeps it lovely and clean!.......
I've never given mine any special attention and I don't have a problem with it (at least I think I don't......I've never had a look). :o/
