I only have a small garden but have loads of pots, I'm not very knowledgable as regards which plant goes where. For the last couple of years I have stuck to petunias, bizzy lizzy, pansies, can anyone suggest any other nice trailing bedding plants. Also which are the best plants for borders that slugs don't like.

Slugs like anything : )
Stay away from Hostas .. slugs love some of those.
sadly, slugs like lots of young fresh plants, so you need to protect them for a few weeks anyway!.........trailing geranium are pretty, as are things like, trailing ivy, used as a filler with your other plants, I grow clematis in pots too, I have early flowering ones, and Summer flowerings ones too!......they are really pretty, and good value, as they come back year after year, as long as you re pot them, and cut them back in Autumn...............hope this gives you some ideas!.......
Slugs don't like begonias. They never touch my lobelias, either. To help discourage slugs, surround newly planted seedlings with coarsely crushed eggshell. They won't go across sharp things.
Welsh ... For you ...

Clematis Texensis 'Etoile Rose'
Clematis Florida 'Alba Plena'

(both NOT fully hardy tho!)
Check 'em out ; )
