Hi,
My mum recently sold her house and is living with me while we look for another house for her.
A steel framed house which looks OK has come back on the market near the area she wants to live, my question is are there any problems to look for with steel framed houses, and are there any potential future problems that can occur..

Well we have some steel and concrete houses round here and i know you can't get a mortgage on them. I presume that means they are not considered of very sound construction. I'm sure someone who knows more about this sort of thing will be along soon.
Depends when it was built, scoob.
Is there a problem with Canary Wharf?

I think it was built in the sixties but I will try and find out, it is not the re-enforced concrete type house it is steel framed.
Not being a great fan of "rigid" masonry, I much prefer timber frame. Steel frame is a similar system.
A skeletal frame is put up, and interior and exterior components are simply hung off this.
The steel frame is unlikely to be an issue. If any problems arise, they are more likely to be with the interior and exterior panels and facings. For frame houses as long ago as the 60s, I would be more interested in the cladding detail.
