On what ? sides or ends?
Question Author
on the ends
i am trying to make a replacement strap for some horse equipment and want to stop the end fraying that i have cut to length
thanks
Depends what the webbing is made of, some fabrics will seal if you singe it over a flame. Not sure if this will help you!
Depending on the material you can stop fraying by touching the "raw" edge with a very hot knife blade. For made-made fabrics this works because the fibres just slightly melt at the edge. For natural fabrics like cotton and wool you would probably need to put a hem on.
run a lighter flame across fray.

Lick fingers before pinching flame out
If it's made of natural fibres, dip the end in PVA, wipe off some of the excess, (not too much - leave a little on the surface), and let it dry thoroughly
Evostick. Brush over both sides of last 10mm.
