My son has left 2 biro marks on my brown mottled leather sofa (3 months old). I checked on the internet and people said hairspray, alcohol, perfume etc. Others said to use the Magic sponge dampened with water. I chose the magic sponge as wasn't too keen on using chemicals. I didn't rub it hard at all - honest, but now I have a big circular white mark right around the biro mark - which is still there! The sponge - or eraser as my husband has told me, has taken the colour out of the sofa. There isn't even any colour on the sponge. I could cry. Could any nice person please advise me........

Could you not use shoe polish to match it? May be acids in the leather activated by damp sponge. A woman I work with boyfriend is an upholsterer and he advises cleaning with baby wipes btw
Spraying with hairspray, waiting a few moments and then lightly rubbing it off with a slightly damp sponge removed all the biro marks from my leather sofa. Sorry yours's lost some of its colour - but the hairspray works on many fabrics, not just leather. perhaps you can buy "dye pens" which'd match the colour you need. Best of luck.
Hi, I hope you are still checking your answers. Anyway, my niece got ink marks on my sister's brand new red leather suite and she rubbed a bit of vaseline into the leather each day for a few days the vaseline lifted the ink out. Have a go as the vaseline won't harm the leather anyway. Hope it works.

Thank you to all of the above for answering my query. Yes, I was truly gutted at the time. I daren't try anything else on it incase I made it worse. I ended up paying a professional Leather fixer man to come to the house and fix it. He sprayed a couple of colours onto it, dabbed it around and dried it with a hairdryer and I am thankful that it looks as good as new now.
Good job it's rarely sat on, as it is in a room I rarely use. Will have to be quite choosy on who I let sit on it in future!
Hi, i have the same problem, my 2 year old got hold of a biro and decided to draw all over 1 section of my leather sofa, i used soapy water to get it off, big mistake it has faded the leather. was wondering how much u had to pay to get a leather cleaner fixer man as u said :-) to come to your house and clean it, as this is what i am going to have to do.thanks
