Scatter cushions on beds - why?

Every redecoration programme seems to feature scatter cushions at the head of the bed, sometimes loads of them. Why? Where on earth do you put them when you just want to put your head on a pillow and sleep?

Its a woman thing. They serve no purpose.

I think it's a really stupid idea and couldn't be bothered with them. Half the time I even throw my pillow on the floor when my head gets hot in the night , so I certainly would want the floor littered with cushions as well.

Quite agree no sensible reason for them. The programmes are probably sponsored by scatter cushion manufacturers!!!!!!

They are purely decorative for the programmes. Nice if you have bigger scatter cushions for reading in bed though and then chuck them on the floor to go to sleep.
