I am lookin to purchase a new 3 seater sofa and single chair with a fairly modern look, there are some nice ones on both the above mentioned websites and I wonder if anyone has had any experiences with either company.

have no idea about CSL, but wouldn't touch DFS with a bargepole, niece had a most horrible experience with them a couple of years ago.
All I can say is don't pay until you have the goods. (remember Courts)
Have bought from dfs...no.problems...
Furniture Village is pretty good.
Purchased from DFS about 20 years ago no problems with purchase and delivery. The suite lasted 15 years so was very pleased.
Ikea do some nice sofas.

Better quality than DFS.
We bought a sofa from DFS and had no problems with it. However, my parents bought a fabric one just before Christmas and the cushions have already gone very flat... despite them only using it in the evenings for a couple of hours.
Whatever you decide to do, don't take out the insurance they offer you.
I used to work for the company that supplied it, and it's a complete waste of money!

ubasses, I would agree with you about that, 20 years ago sofas were made to last.
Not so much these days though.

We bought three leather settees in oak frames for our lounge from DFS over ten years ago and to my disgust they will NOT wear out. I want new ones but Mr BD says these will have to last. They are too low for me to be comfy as I would prefer a higher seat with a bit more back support but I can't fault them on quality. Have seen some G-Plan ones that I would like so I will have to work on him.
Suggest you search the internet for "DFS problems"

Loads of hits.

Thanks all I am looking at a fabric one MadMen any idea what make your parents sofa is and are DFS going to sort the cushions ?, I have looked at Furniture Village and Ikea tonyav and VHG but not to keen on the styles. Thanks to others for sharing their experiences.
I'll have a look on their website in a sec, just gotta sort dinner out first... :)

They phoned them to complain, but they were told they wouldn't do anything about "wear and tear". They were only a month old at this point!

However, like I said, my old sofa was from DFS and we had no problems with that at all... and it was used far more than my parents!
We used to have a fabric suite that we had from DFS and it didn't take long for the seat cushions to go flat.
It might be that DFS have a sale on at the moment.
DFS furniture used to be of top quality (built in Belgium) we had one just like Bakers dozen. Oak framed and built to last, my parents had it 6 years we had it another 7 in our first house. I gave it away to an old lady, she is still using it some 20 years later and it is still in fantastic condition. Now.....they seem to be built out of old orange crates (both DFS & CLS) I have to say CLS do get someone out quickly to deal with any complaints.

We now have a new sofa every other year :0/
don't they always have sales on? :-)

They do seem to have a lot of sales, but I am looking for a sofa to last more than a couple of years, like many my 3 piece suite at the moment I have had for a lot of years, in fact had only two in my 27 years of home owning.
Bought from CSL, no problems at all.
Question Author
Is that recent BOO and was it fabric ?
My fabric couches from DFS still going strong after ten years...
