Can anyone who has experience of electric hobs tell me if they are as responsive as a gas hob. I would like to get rid of the gas supply to everything except the central heating boiler when I have a new kitchen but have always found them unresponsive and slow to turn down the heat. Or are the modern ones different

The Halogen react quickly.
dont do it even a ceramic hob isnt as good as a gas one. Also way things are looking you might be glad of a gas hobb to boil a kettle and heat soup durig the winter electric power cuts to come
We have an induction electric hob and its brilliant. just as responsive as gas.. the only trouble is you have to buy the right type of sauce pans etc to go on it so to begin with its expensive..
Would always have an electric cooker. So much cleaner than a gas cooker. And yes the new cookers are fast to heat up .
I wouldn't go back to gas again. Just as responsive as gas & as mumsie said, so much cleaner!
