A friend has dropped some kohl pencil on my pale cream carpet. It was one of those wind up pencils and it crumbled. It`s rubbed in now. Before I attack it with some Vanish, I just wondered if anyone has a better idea of how to remove it.

I don't know what type of carpet you have , but gently rubbing it with a pencil eraser may take a fair bit of it off . This has worked for me on upholstery . It's a long shot but worth a try .

Thanks argorstran. It`s a wool carpet. I used some vanish carpet spray in the end. I did think about eye make-up remover but I thought it might smear it.
I have a cream bedroom carpet and trod some eyeliner pencil in, first I tried to pick out any stray peices, then I carefully used some neat shampoo and a bit of water to work into the stained part, try to contain the spread and don't soak the carpet, rinse and dab to dry I got quite a lot of it out. When it dried I used Vanish carpet cleaner to finish the job.
I find old fashioned bar soap is good at getting make-up out of wool carpet

Well I did the vanish which ran out while I was finishing it so I used Wizz carpet cleaner. It looks bl00dy awful today. There are round water type marks everywhere. It looks like I`m going to have to hire a Rug Doctor to clear up the cleaning marks. So that`s a result of a friend staying one night. I have a yellow mark as well which was from someone staying who got Johnsons Holiday Skin on the carpet. What hacks me off is that neither of them said "sorry, I`ve marked your carpet". Why are men so much cleaner? (maybe cos they don`t wear make-up)!
