You require about 75 to 90 growing days following planting... you should still be able to grwo them, I suspect...
When I was younger and didn't know how to avoid it, I used to help my uncle plant potatoes. We quite often planted on Cup Final day which was, I think, the last Saturday in May.The potatoes were harvested mid-September into October.

thanks both of you ,I'll get planting straight away ,I've grown potatoes before but thought it might be too late .you can't beat nice fresh home grown spuds yum yum
