Last year i moved a Magnolia tree from a shaded aspect to a sunny one. At first it did okay, however, this year it's completey bare of leaves and as they come through they are discoloured and drop off almost immediately. The position it's in is also quite windy. Can you help?

It is the position that is wrong, magnolia's really don't like wind, until they are established. I would also check that the tree is not too dry.
I would like to second that answer. They grow best in shade and semi-shade under trees.
It's natural home is on the woodland edge.
