I'm planning on making an edible garden in the school grounds where I work, space is limited. There are two huge trees on the plot, will I still be successful if I plant veg under the trees or should I find somewhere else?

Hi RFoz, I think you would be more successful if you could find somewhere else within the grounds.
The roots of these huge trees are likely to take much of the water and nutrients from the soil and you may also encounter problems with too much shade and risk of damaging the tree roots. sorry to be pessimistic but Good Luck. Tbird+

ok thanks , I will save time and effort knowing that. I sort of had the same feeling but just wondered if anyone had grown successfully near or under trees.
