Hi greenfingered ABers out there .... I've just purchased a replacement expandable garden hose ("Magic Hose") - feel sure you all know which ones I mean. There are some instructions which were in the box with the hose and other bits and bobs, but being a bit of a thickie about these matters, I am a little unclear about which is which please. Can you help? the instructions say .....

(1) place the rubber washer firmly inside the female coupling. I obviously understand which bit the rubber washer is, but don't know which bit is the "female coupling". Then you attach the female end of the hose to the water source.

(2) presumably the sprinkler just sort of clips into the other end, so that one end has the sprinkler handle thingey on it and the other end goes into the water source, e.g. our outside garden tap.

Would be sooo very grateful for some guidance please .... cheers, Chox.

Think of a bottle, the cap is the female coupling, the bottle the male.

Ah, that's interesting - and many thanks - I think I get it now. Cheers, Chox.
Female couplings have a hole in them into which the sticky-out bit of a male coupling can be fitted (think about male and female animals). I hope that helps you identify the female coupling.
