Please if you can, I thought they were self set geraniums as they were near where I had some last year and the leaves looked just like those of a geranium. But the leaves that have grown further up are more palmate and flower buds are coming in the top of the plant, not at all like a geranium, there is one flower out and it is white with a pink throat, about 4cm across a bit like the wild mallow flower in shape. I have never seen any of these before.

Thanks patafreak, they are geranium pyrenaicum or very close thing, I wonder where they came from as I only ever had red or pink geraniums before.
They are hardy geraniums which self sow and can grow anywhere. I used to have them...they were favourites of mine. What most people call geraniums are actually pelargoniums.

Thanks pastafreak, I didn't know that, they are now planted in a nice group and being rained on to settle them in, hope they repeat next year, free plants are just what I like.
Thank you for B A, Biccy. I hope they settle in nicely...and spread as they often do.
