What Should You Do With A Pepper Plant.?

My freind put a 18 inch chilli plant into an outside trough last summer.. Now after being there all winter it just has the stalk and branchs on....Should it be pruned back now ? or later on? and by how much.? Many thanks

I agree that it is probably dead. I grew them every year in France. They don't last.
They aren't perennial by nature and don't cope with the uk winter weather anyway.....pull it up and replant late spring early summer
Yes, best treated as an annual in the UK.
I usually buy a couple of small plants when they first appear in the garden centre, in the spring, then grow them on indoors for a few weeks.
Once the weather has warmed up, they are transferred to a sunny spot outside.
