any idea on what to do with them, my friend gave me a load fresh out the garden but I'm not a bit potato eater and I've run out of ideas

i've had, pot salad, steamed, sauteed, thrown at the cat, roasted, croquet balls, crushed.

Im not convinced about freezing them in their current state, any other storage ideas or fantastic uses

I look like a potato now.

potato scones?
hash browns
mashed and then frozen?
turn them into crisps
Stovies
Yes. Distill them.
I would have said mash then freeze, but if they're quite small, then they'll be a pain + quite time -consuming to peel :(

Baths

What about giving some to neighbours?
Donate them to a food bank ?

im too impatient to distill anything.

i quite like the idea of making hashbrowns/mash/gratin and then frezing, that would work.

nice idea gangesboy but not enough to give to them - when i say a glut, thre are too much for me on my own, in reality there isn't enough for family of 4.....
Give them away ... to a family of 3

do you know any?
Strange, you look like a Womble to me.
Perhaps there was a half baked one called "Potato" ?

Thinking of which, twice baked spuds are nice, especially if mixed with a good cheese.
omg, that dish that you get in the Canaries, the salt encrusted spuds. Very special if you like salty stuff. Other than that I don't see chips in the list.
Do you know that I don't know which leg my next door neighbour has missing.
What a poor neighbour I must be.

That may sound a bit random but they are a family of 3

Well we can all use the wrong word in error to describe something can't we? Easy mistake to make. :-)
Throw more at the cat. :-P

That dish would be called Papas arrugadas and is fantastic with one of the Garlic Mojo sauces.
I have the Mojo book in front of me now
thank you.
Potato cakes

Spiced: 3lb potatos boil/mash. add corianader/cumin/chilli powder & salt to taste. mix in 2 eggs, form patties and fry or bake.

Plain: As above, replace spice with chopped onion/cooked veg/peas. Same plain but with mashed garlic & ginger.

For raw storage: keep in brown paper bag somewhere shaded, dry & cool.

its not the wrong word though, is it retro - for me, its a glut, for a family it wouldn't be.

nice try, but you still haven't wriggled out of that one and feel free to drag your indignant attempts at self justification onto a thread about potatoes :-D

randy - tell me more about canaries salty stuff :-D

doug - problem is, the cat throws them back
