Saw article for storing begonia tubers which said to store in brown papers bags. Could I store them in newspaper instead? Thanks for any advice.

They would need to be kept in a frost free place, and I would have thought that newspaper would be OK. Not sure though.
The only reason for suggesting 'brown paper bags' is to assure a modicum of insulation while, at the same time, promoting air flow. The tubers must not freeze, but at the same time if they're not kept in something that will admit air they may develop mold... not good...

Simple answer to your question is that begonias don't know the difference between 'brown paper' and newsprint, so... go with this morning's edition!
