Cooking With Pickled Onions?

I have a jar of white pickled onions (large ones, not the small ones), in white vinegar. We didn't really like them but I really hate throwing good food away. I keep wondering what a beef stew with said pickled onions would be like? Has anyone tried cooking with pickled onions in this way? Would you rinse them first, or just drain them? Better still, have you got a tried and tested recipe? I think I would like to use the slow cooker.

I use it in sandwiches.
The vinegar in the onions will spoil the taste of anything in a stew.
I don't think there is much you can do with picked onions apart eating them in salad or with cold meat. I hate the things , we have jars of them that were out of date years ago.
Drain the vinegar and rinse the onions in water and dry them out on kitchen paper. Then make some cheese on toast, slice the onions when the cheese is nearly ready and put them on the cheese and back under the grill until the onions have just begun to brown. Top with ketchup or brown sauce and you have a delicious snack. Add salad and you have a great meal.
Rinse them and put them in Beef and Guinness casserole. Delia does one with pickled walnuts so just substitute pickled onions.
I've seen steak pie with pickled onions in it - my pal had it and said it was lovely.
Why not ask next door if they like pickled onions, if yes then swop them for a couple of cooking onions, or justt be nice and give them away,
I do a tuna dish that we first had in Portugal as a starter
it is just a tin of tuna ,drained if it is in brine, mixed with olive oil, chopped coriander, and chopped white silverskin onions, (quantities to your own taste) them eat with fresh bread or savoury biscuits
white pickled onions! bin them, never any good even when fresh, Bin them!
Pickled onions are quite good used in a sweet and sour recipe. I have used them with pineapple pieces and cold pork
