The previous owners of my house had a penchant for aggressive rhizome rooted plants, which they planted through 5 tonnes of gravel! Then they left it to its own devices for 3 tears. My current problem is acanthus mollis . There was one huge plant which we dug very very VERY deep to remove the tap root (which I think actually passed through the earth's core) and now, it is everywhere, growing through everything, all over the garden. It makes me want to cry with frustration. We have tried removing each bit of new plant to no avail.
I would guess there are around 30 new plants in our not very large garden!

Has anyone successfully gotten rid of this? Between it and the free roaming Euphoria red fens. I could happily get rid of the top 4ft of garden and start again. Oh, not to mention the lotus subtiflora!!
