You can name it yourself if it really is a new variety but, for the name to be recognised, it has to conform with the International Code of Nomenclature for Cultivated Plants.

The Royal Horticultural Society can advise you. See here:

Write to

or phone 0845 260 5000 to find out if there's a particular person you need to contact.

Good idea, Carlton23, Here's the link, hope it works http://s1103.photobuc...m/albums/g466/str100/
How lovely. It looks almost like an orchid. Hope you can save the seeds to grow it on.

sorry, a little description wouldnt go amiss either! Its not very tall, about 60cm, and when the flowers are just opening the lower "tongue" petal is a buttery yellow. The petals are split and it almost looks like a orchid flower. Heres another pic that shows it all a little clearer

Thanks Starbuckone, I think its lovely too. I'll def keep the seeds, there are four or five flower spikes on it. The photo really doesn't do it justice either.
Looks more like an Orchid to me!
Gorgeous. What beautiful colours.
Worth a shot, hope it makes you a fortune.
Dont want to be a Party Pooper but it looks a bit like this

Might just be a virus causing flower distortion.... but i think I would contact a major company and see if they are interested as they would then take on the development costs etc in return for a royalty deal plus naming rights
Question Author
Emeritus, it is very similar but the bottom petal starts outas a buttery yellow and turns to very deep purple as the flowers ages. The flowers also all face upwards and the top petals are completely divided. But I think I may buy one, its really georgeous.
Rowanwitch, i never thought of contacting a company, thats a great idea thanks. I don't think its a virus, I have three of these plants and many other "normal" foxgloves amongst them.
