I have a blocked kitchen sink! Have tried two bottles of a good unblocker over the last day and boiling water (not sure if it's grease that's blocked it). Have also tried a plunger every now and then, which spouts water through the overflowy bit.The dishwasher also blocked later that day and I put a cleaner through that, which worked. However, water still standing in sink. Not a DIY expert, are there any other ways to try clearing it please?

Many thanks xxx

Under the sink .......... find the trap (white plastic U-bend), unscrew the bowl at the bottom and clean it out.
Try that first.
(Don't tip the bowl down the sink though ................. many people do lol)
If you're using a plunger hold an old piece of cloth over the overflow opening
dont use that sink unblocker it ruins drains. Do as the builder says and take the u bend of under the sink and have a good clean out. If it still continues to block check the kitchen Gully outside kitchen.

Thank you for reply. Will try that first. (Read "tell answer to OH" for that). Thanks x
Manually clean it after a strip down.
Not much you can break. Get the seals back in order.
Builder, an old workmate of mine did just that... twice!
Cleaned out the trap, emptied the water into the sink, quickly placed the bowl back under the open trap to catch the water, then did exactly the same while shouting his wife to bring another bucket!
All of the above and remember to breathe through your ears. :)

Pouring the water back down the sink is exactly the sort of thing i would do! My OH took apart and cleaned out all he could. There were blockages of grease in it. The dishwasher also blocked again. Does seem to be running through now, although a bit slower.
Thank you all for your help. Much appreciated x
