Kitchen door - sliding rail

My girlfriend has a metal slide rail over her kitchen door where there use to be a sliding door - long gone. She also has a spare bedroom door that is surplus to requirements. I want to somehow drill into the top edge of that door to hang it from the slider brackets. I don't know what type of screws/bolts would be safe to use on the top edge - the weight of the door makes it tricky. Is there a way round this?

I'm asuming you want to replace the existing kitchen door with a sliding one using the bedroom door and the existing fittings where possible ?

The chances of finding the right bits are slim but a new kit can be bought to hang doors up to 40KG here

B&Q and Wickes only seem to sell lightweight (upto 15KG)gear for wardrobes and not suitable for doorways as they have a track along the bottom too
