hi there, i'm really in hope someone can help me here. i have some "normal" light switches i need to change to dimmers.
i have been out and bought two dimmers, one a master and one a slave my only problem is now i want to replace them but am confused by the termonology.
the new switches have live (obv red), load (?) and master/slave? There is nothing extra for earth either but i have at the bottom of the stairs 2 red and 2 blue and an earth going in and upstais i have 1 red, 1 blue and 1 earth but i just dont know where to put these in respect to the new dimmers.
i am a keen diy'er but ive never heard of this load or master or slave? i cant find much help on the net.
please help.

are these lights for your hall, stairs and landing?
the existing set up is for 2 way lighting, the lights can be turned on/off from 2 points unlike a normal room set up.
are your new light fittings one way or two way? they need to be two way to be used in the hall/stairs/landing, which has the extra strapper cables that you see in the fitting

yes to part 1 of your question, they are top and bottom of stairs. both can be operated, i'm not worried by this it's the light dimmers i have and the "load" "live" and then "master" on the master dimmer and "slave" on the slave dimmer.

i dont know where to put my live, neutral and earth wires you see??
