Clean the u bend, water trap out under the sink.
Get a Wet Towel & use it as a "plunger" this should clear it Berni.
Take the plug out!

Have you tried Mr Muscle drain unblocker, Bernie?
Could be build up of soap so hot water and maybe one of those wee rounded bristle brush on a long flexible wire from hardware store . Caustic soda may damage plastic pipes and leave roughness so as things tend to stick and get trapped on the roughness Can you get to end of outlet pipe use the brush at that end also also .(have to be careful what you say these days as the most innocent of language is miscalculated ) Long winded but it happened to me and thats what helped Good luck with it .
A plunger should do it. Mr Muscle drain unblock is good too.

tried plunger, tried mr muscle next up coat hanger to try to unblock it, mrs c bringing home caustic soda later thx for your answers x
The caustic soda will more than likely work, it's wonder stuff!
You get under the sink. Make sure you have a bucket under ! Unscrew all the waste pipe bits remembering what went where (should be obvious) clear it all out and then screw/push it all back together again. In the unlikely event the blockage is further along, give up and call a plumber.
PS, probably already checked, but first check for hair & soap blocking near the top, and pull out any you find.
Bernie,,,, you have to stop shedding your fur down the plug 'ole.

Under your sink is a "U" bend. These are usually easy to unscrew, do so and clear it of your fur, then reassemble the same way it came apart.
Good lick ;-)
Err,,,I meant "luck".

thx again
He has to lick it clean? That seems a harsh punishment for moulting ;-)

I agree wit taking the u bend apart.
Question Author
lucky lick lol
Eccles,,,For Bernie it wouldn't be a harsh punishment :-)

right the bathroom sink has no u bend pipe (kitchen does) it goes straight down under floorboards will try caustic soda as last resort if that fails wiil have to call someone out
Most unusual Not having a u-bend/trap.

If the pipe is plastic I would be very wary of using Caustic Soada.

Hans.
Unusual for it not to have a U Bend, if that doesn't work you can buy a pump plunger from Wickes for around £5, just fill the sink up, cover the overflow and pump away
It should have a trap somewhere, unusual for it not to be directly under the basin. If there is none then there is nothing to stop foul air coming back into your bathroom. Maybe you should get one fitted now you are working on the issue ?

There are spring like things you can shove down pipes to push, or better still garb and pull out blockages. But try the soda first then.
The "U" bend maybe beneath floor level.
If it didn't have one at all you would get "horrible stinky sewer smells" coming from the bathroom sink.

(That's worse than "wet fur" smells)
