I have bought a 10amp 2gang extension lead for my caravan.However it will not charge the battery on my laptop or Tablet but it will operate my electric shaver.Seems very strange to me but i'm no leccy.

There's one possibility, Whiston. Lots of plugs have an insulating sleeve covering part of the pins, for obvious safety reasons. Extension leads are very crude devices. The simple copper bits that accept the pins are pretty basic. They may be just missing the uninsulated part of the pins.

The above does not explain why the electric shaver will work uless the shaver has a substantially different plug.

The Builder has the only rational explanation as far as I can see.
Aren't shavers usually only 2 pin?
Yes, Kvalidir. That's why only two of the pins in a three-pin plug have to be connected!
