Okay it appears to have a built in filling loop, so do i just turn the knob on the cold water inlet to get the pressure from 0.6 bar to 1.5 bar and do i need to turn off the combi boiler to do this or should i leave it on?

I have a tap at both ends of the loop Henrietta and open both to pressurise.
The boiler heating and hot water control should be set at 'off' when doing this.

Thanks douglas, i've already did it. I first turned the cold water inlet but no sound of water so i undid the other tap at the end of the fixed loop then undid the cold water and then heard water gushing and expected the pressure to go up straight away but it took ages as i kept on turning it off and on whilst cowering under the boiler and kitchen units as i was scared it was going to blow up as i've never done anything like this before.

Why did it take so long to fill up the system?

I now have heating! yaaay!
The difference between the correct pressure, and a low one is only about a couple of cupfuls of water Henrietta.
It should take a few seconds only.

I would imagine you didn't quite have one of the valves fully open.

Actually, boiler on of off isn't terribly important. If you wanted to be really picky, the system is best topped up with a stone-cold boiler and system. The reason being that, hot water expands and gives an "over-reading".

Not important in the great scheme of things though. :o)))
^^^^^ "on OR off"
Often enough these valves have only to be open a tiny crack to produce a sound like gallons of water rushing through them. Mine do.
